What's exactly is the video platform and the video portal?

• The video platform is the entire set of tools for managing your video content and giving your users an easy method for consuming and watching those videos.  There is also functionality to allow you to share your videos.
• The video portal is the front end web interface to display your entire video library.  This web interface allows you to create channels, assign playlists to channels, and tag videos.  There is also built-in browsing and searching functionality.  
• You can opt to use the video portal with all the backend video management capabilities or just use the backend video management.

What type of videos can be played natively? 

• The video platform can handle most types of videos natively.  If a FLV video file is uploaded, then the built-in flash player will be used. If a WMV file is uploaded, then a Silverlight player will be used. Other file formats include, but not limited to, AVI, WMV, MOV, and MP4.
• If, for whatever reason, a video format is not supported natively, you can use the built-in tools to encode your video to work with the video portal and embed tools.
• Any file format can always be uploaded and stored for later use.

Can external or 3rd party video sources be used? 

• Yes, it is possible to use an external video streaming source and play or store for embedding.
• A video could be a file that you upload or associate with another 3rd party streaming service.  
• Any tools associated with videos will still be available such as embedding your videos, tagging your videos, creating playlists, and also reports!

How do you get paid for advertisements, or how do they work? 

• Advertisements are built into the video portal so you can either make money or supply a method for sponsoring your videos, or even highlight other web properties.
• The easiest method for getting paid is to sign up for Google AdSense and pasted that code directly into the video platform administration.  You then get paid directly from Google!
• You can also upload your own advertisements and set the impression rate.  That means you can sell advertisements based on the number of times it will be seen by your users.  You can also brand an entire webpage or channel with your sponsor's brand, logo, and colors.
